In the early years of production manufacture was shared between two factories. While mechanically the same, the Austin Seven and Morris Mini used their own trim designs and these designs varied throughout these years until trim became more standardised after 1962. This design was used exclusively in early Austin production. We believe that this trim was used before the middle of November 1959, around chassis number 8500 however, as with all early Mini items there was a lot of changes in the these early production years so if you are unsure we would recommend contacting our sales team for further details.

In contrast to later models the sides of the cover extended down into the rear wheel arch pocket. This means that the rear metal wheel arch itself does not have a vinyl wheel arch cover as per later cars. The special horse hair pad is actually glued to a metal bar that sits on the rear parcel shelf. The seat cover is then laid over this unit, the top skirt is glued to the back of the metal bar, then the skirts on the cover are turned over the horse hair pad and glued in place.

Please note that colours listed are those that were used in the original manufacture of the vehicle. We do, however, have a number of other colours which are available to order – please check out our colour swatches section at the bottom of the page to see the wide range of other colours available or get in touch with our sales team who will be happy to send samples. If you would like to order a colour that is not listed please contact our sales team who can advise the best way to proceed
